The Vue D'Esprit Renderings

Vue D'Esprit is basically a landscape and plant-generator (not unlike Bryce). It provides basic (but limited) modeling and has a very decent renderer, that produces realistic looking skies & landscapes. It also has a camera mover for a flythrough.

The last version 4 exists for PC & MacOS X. Info: http://www.e-onsoftware.com

Vue D'Esprit 2.1

This test was done with the version 2.1 (which came for free with an issue of 3D-World Magazine).

The OBJ-file has been used in V2.1.
bulletThe materials were pointed to the right texture.
bulletThe materials without textures had to be edited by hand. It is possible to use some of the preset materials (both procedural and mapping is available).
bulletYou can notice a few import errors on the windows.

Vue D'Esprit 3.1

The following examples were done with the demo-version of 3.1.

Here the 3DS-file was used. This imported much better, although camera and lights still had to be positioned separately. The texture maps and mapping were imported and most of the material settings came through.

In the second picture the glass-object was replaced by the built-in glass-shader and the ground was replaced by a green-grass-landscape.

The next example used a "night-sky" preset and a few spots were placed in the building. The rendering took a long time...

The last example added a few trees (they are "grown", so no two trees will be identical).

PLUS

bulletconversion includes the texture mapping
bulletgood ray-tracer
bulletvery natural and good-looking skies, landscapes and trees
bulletV3.1 correct import from the 3DS-file

MIN

bulletV2.1 the lighting and camera from the model wasn't translated
bulletV2.1 the material settings had to be done again
bulletV2.1 some geometry errors -> look at the windows above the concrete extension
